a little about our crew...

Director: Michael Shea

Michael is a native of Seattle, Washington. After wandering through his 20's as an itinerant handyman Michael found himself in Vermont and enrolled at Marlboro College.

While in college Michael realized that he needed to return to his childhood dream of filmmaking and so he relocated into the mouth of the Lion's Den: Los Angeles! Moving there in 1996 he acquired work quickly as a production assistant and worked steadily, becoming a 1st A.D.

Michael worked as a 1st A.D. for many years concluding that this would be a prime position from which to learn filmmaking. He was wrong. Upon realizing this he began to seek other opportunities and has subsequently done some writing and producing taking any job that would help him further his goals, regardless of quality or substance.

He has even stooped so low as to direct a reality television show.

Upon realizing what had become of him over his many years in L.A. he decided to take a year away from earning a living to make a film he could believe in. Red State is the result of those efforts.

Michael has never been married and has no children. He has traveled the world extensively.

Michael is uncomfortable writing about himself in the third person

Producer: Matthew Leonetti, Jr.

Matt is a third generation filmmaker who recently finished two independent films entitled "Santa's Slay" and "Lovewrecked." Matt got his start in the film business working for Mark Canton. He was then hired by Andy Davis to work on the films "The Family Man," "Rush Hour 2," and "Red Dragon," directed by Brett Ratner and was a coordinator of the film "Van Helsing" for producer Sam Mercer. Matt was drawn to produce "Red State" because he felt the need for a further understanding of the policies and ideals that are driving this country. He owns and operates Contain-It Storage, a company that specializes in portable storage for the film and entertainment industry. He is a registered Republican.

But don't hold that against him.

Producer: Lisa Lettunich

Lisa is a film and television producer who got her start in the entertainment industry working for Fox and ABC Sports. She has spent the last few years attempting to make some sense of the Reality craze, producing shows for such networks as MTV, Animal Planet and VH1. Lisa is non-political by nature, but was compelled to bring this film to fruition to further her understanding of the politics in America. When she is not working Lisa is busy helping her family run their cattle business.

She may not like Republicans but she likes red meat.

Director of Photography: Steve Canas

Steve is a hard working and brilliant cinematographer. His work can be seen throughout the television landscape and in it's full vivid splendor on Red State. A first generation American Steve's parents emigrated from Columbia before he was born. He is bilingual and his only real flaw is that he occasionally cheers for both the U.S. and Columbian soccer teams.

He refuses to choose.

Editor: Morgan Gjovik

Morgan arrived in Los Angeles fresh out of Florida State University and immediately began working as an assistant editor. 6 months later she was editing Red State. Her meteoric rise in the film business can be attributed to her tenacity and talent. Her latest efforts can be seen on the silver screen in the uproarious Disney film, "Stick It".

She'll be running a studio by the time she's 30.

Music: David Manning

David is a composer whose wonderful score for Red State has been receiving compliments and accolades from everyone who sees the film. His greatest success to date was in composing the music for the film "Reefer Madness - The Musical".

David is a fan of UCLA football.
